Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapy clinic aims to help women of any age and stage of life.

Welcome to The Clinic

Antenatal Care
Unfortunately, for some, pregnancy can come with its aches and pains, or possibly with symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. None of this is a “normal” part of pregnancy and shouldn’t have to be suffered simply because you are pregnant.
A physiotherapy assessment and treatment programme can improve mobility, strength and pain in those with low back and pelvic girdle pain. Assessment and treatment of pelvic floor symptoms can help maintain function as the pelvic floor comes under increasing load.
Birth prep strategies can also be discussed to help you prepare for birth and your recovery.

The Mummy MOT
Postnatal checks are suitable for mums who feel their recovery is going well but want some reassurance before getting back to exercise, right through to those who feel they are dealing with some lingering problems from their birth. Such issues could affect bladder and bowel control, give symptoms of prolapse or cause problems with intimacy.
Some women feel their abdominal wall muscles have not fully recovered from pregnancy and birth and wish to have some guidance as to how to address these issues. Postnatal checks are suitable for women at any stage after 6 weeks postpartum. You may find that your child is now a toddler, or even older, but your symptoms are still bothersome.
It is never too late to address these problems. Research shows that it takes a woman on average 7 years to seek help for these symptoms. At the Powerhouse, we say why be a statistic?
Get your Mummy MOT booked and start your journey to better pelvic health today. A full assessment can help address any issues and identify areas for improvement before they become troublesome.
An individualised rehab plan is given to help you on your way to feeling more like yourself after your birth.

Pelvic Health Check
Many women suffer in silence with their symptoms for years, others find that their symptoms only appear after they reach a “certain age” – i.e. when we are perimenopausal (the years leading up to the menopause) or menopausal. Often, I hear comments from women who worry they have left it too late to get help, or fear that nothing can be done due to the length of time they have been suffering from their symptoms.
The aim of Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is always to optimise the function of the pelvic tissues to improve outcomes. For a large percentage of women, optimising function and responsiveness of the pelvic floor helps them to manage their symptoms.
Even if further treatment is required, you will be in a better position having attended physiotherapy, having gained knowledge and improved strength and control of the pelvic floor.
